[ 01 ]What it looks like

A round image tilted at a random angle, with a dial beneath it to turn it upright.

[ 02 ]Why it is hard

Upright is semantic, not geometric: the model has to know which way an animal, a building or a face belongs before it can measure the offset. Answers are graded inside a tolerance band of a few degrees, so a near miss fails outright, and some implementations accept only stepped increments rather than a free angle.

[ 03 ]How we solve it

Send the image as a base64 body and we return the rotation in degrees, for example a rotate value of 180. No sitekey and no proxy: the whole task is the picture, which keeps it in the cheapest tier alongside image-to-text. Pass the angle field when the widget moves in fixed steps, and the answer is snapped to that grid instead of being returned as a free value.

Post the task, get the token. Our SDKs collapse creation, polling and retries into one call.

Questions about this one

$0.75 per 1,000 images, the same tier as image-to-text and audio, because the request is a picture and nothing else. Failed solves are not billed.

No. There is no sitekey and no token, so nothing is bound to your IP. Extract the challenge image, send it, apply the returned angle in your own session.

Divide the returned angle by 360 and multiply by the slider's full travel in pixels. If the widget uses stepped increments, send the angle field with the step so the answer already lands on a valid stop.

The interaction looks similar but FunCaptcha is a token type: it needs its own task with the public key and returns a token, not an angle. Use this type only for challenges where you submit a rotation yourself.
